Hi Friends, How are you doing today? I find myself somehow at the end of March. On one hand, I am delighted that spring is here and on the other hand, I wonder where the time has gone. Last weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting a Spring Equinox Celebration at Yoga Lee Studio (my yoga studio in the Berkshires) and afterwards, I had a few thoughts. I shared them on instagram, but in case you don't follow me there (@dr.kerrymcginn) I wanted to share them here: I'm a little delayed here, but I had to take a moment to reflect on this past spring Equinox. This time of year feels so ripe with hope and intention. While also still having elements of heaviness and stagnant safety. I often find myself pulled towards the outward energy that is coming of spring and summer. And then equally as pulled back towards that inward energy of winter and darkness. It's the push pill of this time of year: spring equinox, kapha season, wood. As much as I want to Stand here in front of you and claim that I beautifully embrace every season that I am in. I don't always. I struggle in winter. The darkness, the cold, and the solitude, can be too easy to succumb to for me. At times, I feel like I need the darkness and the solitude while also, I recognize that it is easy to fall into a pattern of stagnancy and of stuckness, and to allow that to take away the joy and aliveness that I know I need in my life. I feel like at times I can hold both I can hold the dark and the light the inward energy and the outward energy. But other times, it seems like there are 2 separate parts of myself that are constantly at work that are telling me I have to be one thing. For mee, this equinox was a good reminder of the different sides of me. That I am more than one thing, that I am a amalgamation of all the things I've been through, that I've learned, and that I've shared, and that I've experienced. And that I can hold all of it. That I can be both light and dark happy and sad, turned inward and turned outward. I can hold contradictions and competing parts and I am still me. And I realized that the more I share that me-ness, the more fully of joy my life is, the more Alive I feel. The past few years have been a bit all over the place for me. I have moved across the state, started new jobs, ended jobs, opened businesses, made new friends and lost friends. I have learned a lot about who I am and what I want to do in the world AND I am still learning. For me, the spring equinox feels like the true new year. There is a lot of hope and opportunity, a lot of space for planting intentions and setting down roots for what is to come. I am excited for all that is to come and trying ot be really intentional about where I spend my time this year. For me, that looks like figuring out who I am outside of my businesses (both Live Good, Feel Good and Yoga Lee Studio), actually planting some seeds in our garden and working on some background projects that really set my soul on fire. xx Kerry
Did you know I had a podcast? To be honest, it's been on a bit of a hiatus but I thinking of bringing it back with a focus on yoga, somatics and how to live your best, most joyful (and painfree) life. What do you think? I have two full seasons up-- feel free to listen and let me know if you want me to bring it back!! Dr. Kerry McGinn PT, DPT, RYT (516) 318-6627

As the Wheel Turns.. September is one of my favorite months in the Berkshires. After the hub bub and chaos of summer, September is such a blessing. September feels like a fresh start but without the pressure of new years resolution. September feels like an old friend that always has time for a chat and a cup of tea. September feels like a big, long exhale after running around all day. The energy of September is equal part rest and cozy and magnetic and energized and...I very much love it. But...
As we say Goodbye to July... July has flown by (as it usually does here in the Berkshires). On one hand, I am happy to see July in the rearview. I often forget that living and owning small business in the Berkshires means I don't sit down or even have a second to breathe from June 15th to July 15th. It's a beautiful and abundant time but it is also a chaotic and sometimes stressful time. It aligns well with the natural world... nature is blooming with abundance and activity. On the other...
Happy July! Summer is kicking in the Berkshires and the warm weather has me wishing I was on a floatie in the middle of the ocean somewhere some days. At the same time, I do love Berkshire summer-- the sunsets, the lake, the garden. It's what I look forward too all winter. I think it's important in the joy (and chaos) of summer to slow down too. To soak in all the natural world has to offer and to have some days to just be. I'm not quite sure where that fits into my summer plans but I do know...
